In June 2016, the annual Unit 3 Spelling Bee was launched. Nearly the whole of Unit 3 was involved in the competition and over a period of four weeks, the students were given over 300 words to learn, culminating in the students competing to spell as many of these words in a knock out style competition. The 1st round knockout was held over Monday and Tuesday in the children's English groups.
The top 5 spellers from each individual English group progressed to the final competition and were given an additional 70 words to learn! A final competition was then held to find the top three spellers from Year 4 and the top three spellers in year 5.
After a tough competition and some excellent performances, the winners were:
Year 4
- Hira (1st)
- Rohail (2nd)
- Aminah (3rd)
Year 5
- Adeem (1st)
- Brooklyn (2nd)
- Dawoud (3rd)
With over 100 children taking part this really was a tough competition. The staff in Unit 3 would like to thank all the children who took part and to parents for helping at home with the learning of the spellings.
