At Shawclough, we have two Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinators (SENCOs): Mrs Crawford for the mainstream and Rainbow (our LA Resource Provision) and Mrs Rush for Rainforest (our LA SEN Unit). At Shawclough we want every child to be ready, be responsible and be respectful. We believe that if this happens we will be our best, every day. Therefore, we aim to ensure that every pupil, regardless of needs disability, race or gender has equal access to the curriculum. We recognise that for some children they may require additional support so that they are able to fulfil their potential; this looks different for different children.
All our teachers have regular training and support so that they have the skills and confidence to quickly identify pupils' needs with accuracy and that teaching and aim to ensure that classrooms are as inclusive as possible. Where needs are identified they, or a SENCO, will meet with parents/carers to help reduce these barriers. If you would like to speak to your child's class teacher please contact us.
