We have once again had complaints from both the residents and parents about behaviour and parking around school grounds.

The increasing number of cars outside school is a common issue for many schools around the country. We encourage children to walk whenever possible.

Can we please remind all parents that regardless of your frustrations it is inappropriate to use threatening behaviour or swear in front of any of the children. Behaviour such as this will not be tolerated and will be reported to both the police and the local authority.

We politely request that parents and visitors to school park in surrounding roads with thought and consideration to our children, adults and our local community. Please obey the restrictions in place and do not park in an obstructive manner.

Our school carpark is only for the use of staff and agreed visitors, please think before you park.

·         Do not park, or wait on the yellow ‘Keep Clear’ markings, these are there so that children have a safe place to cross

·         Do not park blocking driveways, this is classed as an unnecessary obstruction

·         Do not park blocking drop kerbs. These are to allow access for wheelchairs and prams.

·         Do not park on the private road on Thrum Hall Lane

·         Do not park or wait on the turning circle

If you are dropping your child outside of the school grounds please do so in a safe way. The use of the turning circle for drop offs is done at your own risk as this could result in you receiving a parking fine as this is a no waiting area. In addition please ensure that your child exits the car in a safe place. We have seen children getting out of cars in the middle of the road, children should exit to a footpath.

If you are using the turning circle to drop off please remember you are responsible for the safety of your child until they enter school and therefore you need to make sure you have risk assessed this and are sure that your child is able to get themselves safely into school, this also applies to the end of the school day.

We strive for safety of our children, parents, staff and the local community and ask that when parking you do so considerately. Thank you to everyone who already parks in a safe and considerate way your co-operation is appreciated.

Moses have asked us to let you know that they are still offering a service during lockdown. Items can be ordered via Moseswear@gmail.com or through the Moses School Wear Facebook Page and items will be on a click and collect service once ordered – thank you.

If your child is unable to attend school due to self-isolating it is important that they carry on with school work. All children who are off but are otherwise well should access the Oak Academy for work relevant to their school year group. https://classroom.thenational.academy/. The themed booklets that have already been sent home will assist you in finding appropriate topics for your child from the classroom.

In the event that a class bubble closes all work will be set on Google Classroom, as it is for homework. All usernames and password have been emailed home already. Work will usually be set the second day of closure this is to allow time for class teachers to prepare the online teaching for the day. Work us set daily and will usually include English, Maths and some Topic focussed work.

If you have a question concerning using the Google Classroom or the work set there are email addresses set up for each year group, these are:

YN - asktheteacherYN@shawclough.rochdale.sch.uk

YR - asktheteacherYR@shawclough.rochdale.sch.uk

Y1 - asktheteacherY1@shawclough.rochdale.sch.uk

Y2 – asktheteacherY2@shawclough.rochdale.sch.uk

Y3 – asktheteacherY3@shawclough.rochdale.sch.uk

Y4 – asktheteacherY4@shawclough.rochdale.sch.uk

Y5 – asktheteacherY5@shawclough.rochdale.sch.uk

Y6 – asktheteacherY6@shawclough.rochdale.sch.uk

These are monitored several times through the day during a closure period. If you have problems due to not having a laptop or appropriate devices please email office@shawclough.rochdale.sch.uk and we may be able to assist.

Work that is sent out in a bubble closure if mandatory and the work should be submitted on the classroom. We appreciate home education can be difficult so we ask that you have a go at all the work set. If you need assistance with the work or can’t get through it just email the ‘ask the teacher’ address and someone will contact you to assist.
