PACKED LUNCHES
Can we please remind parents that children who have packed lunches should be following healthy school guidelines:
· A main item such as a sandwich, rice or pasta salad – please note the sandwich filling should not be chocolate spreads
· A portion of fruit and vegetables such as cucumber, an apple etc
· Should only have crisps in once a week
· Should not contain chocolate or sweets or hot items or fizzy drinks
Your assistance in this is appreciated
PARENT GOVERNORS
We have vacancies on our Governing Board for 2 Parent Governors, parents serve for a term of four years. Please see attached letter – please return all nomination forms by the 23rd October for consideration. If you are unable to print out a nomination paper please contact the office for a copy.
NASAL FLU
The nasal flu spray is being offered in school again this year. Every primary school child in England is being offered this.
We need you to tell us if you would like your child to be vaccinated. It is really important that you return your child’s flu consent e-form – even if you are turning it down. We need to know that you are aware your child is being offered the vaccination.
Please see your attached link to consent or decline for this year’s nasal flu vaccinations ( https://www.nhsimms.uk/FLU/information?Id=105766&Type=FLU ) please note that the link will close (10/11/2020) If you have any questions or queries please don't hesitate to get in touch on 0333 358 3397.
The flu vaccination is more important than ever this year because of COVID-19. The symptoms of flu can be mistaken for COVID-19 which means that flu could cause school bubbles to close if mistaken for COVID-19.
COVID TEST RESULTS
In the event of any family receiving a positive COVID result can you please forward your positive test result by text to our welfare phone on 07563870951.
Please forward all test results through to office@shawclough.rochdale.sch.uk. On your first day back in school please report to the school office before going to class. Thank you
SCHOOL WORK DURING PERIODS OF SELF ISOLATION AND BUBBLE CLOSURE
If your child is unable to attend school due to self-isolating it is important that they carry on with school work. All children who are off but are otherwise well should access the Oak Academy for work relevant to their school year group. https://classroom.thenational.academy/
In the event of a bubble closing then work will be sent via email – work that is sent out in a bubble closure if mandatory and the work should be emailed back. We appreciate home education can be difficult so we ask that you have a go at all the work set. If you need assistance with the work or can’t get through it just email the ‘ask the teacher’ address and someone will contact you to assist. If you are unable to access on line work it is important that you speak to the school office, paper packs will always be available, there is no expectation that you print anything out. If you have no computer resources at home please speak to the Office or Miss Sharp for further assistance.

SCHOOL GROUNDS
Thank you to all families who are wearing face masks in school grounds and also arriving on their own to collect children it does help us to maintain a safe environment. Please if you are arriving with a child from High School please can the High School child wait outside the gates to reduce the number of people on site. We would also ask that when waiting you do so in a manner that maintains social distancing. Reception parents please do not enter the gated area in phase 1 until after the Year 1 pupils have entered. Reception start time is 8:45am. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO ACCESS TO THE SCHOOL BUILDING FOR ANY VISITORS INCLUDING USE OF THE TOILETS.
We would also like to remind everyone that the school car park should not be used without a permit.
Due to congestion and issues with social distancing at home time at the phase 1 doors Y1 will be collected from the small playground near the ramp from 22nd September until further notice. Drop off remains unchanged.
AUTUMN 2 EVENTS
Unfortunately we have had to take the decision to cancel some of our events that normally happen in the second half of the Autumn term. We are as disappointed as you are but we wanted to let you know early as we understand that many of you book time off work to see these events. We would hope at least to be able to do some of the parents breakfast events later in the year.
In terms of events that we are still running:
